CIS Huskies Swim Team team breaks 8 records
The CIS Huskies swim team delivered an outstanding performance at the 19U HSACSIS Championships, hosted by Tanglin Trust School over two days on 14-15 November. Competing as a young squad in the field, made up primarily of 16U athletes, the team proved they were more than ready for the challenge. Their discipline, competitive spirit, and attention to technical details such as underwater work, transitions, and race pacing were evident in every event.
The opening day came with its own challenges. After a long delay caused by a late bus arrival, heavy rain and traffic congestion, the team reached the venue with only a short time for warm-up. Despite this stressful start, the Huskies came out racing.
The very first heat of the girls’ 400m free event set the tone for the meet, with Olivia H. dropping more than 13 seconds from her entry time. Not long after, Kieran T. secured our first points of the meet, posting a personal best in the boys’ 400m freestyle and placing 7th overall. This was quickly followed by Haoyang B. with a fourth place in the 200 breaststroke.
With a smoother warm-up and a strong team cheer to kick off the second day, the Huskies gained momentum quickly. Swimmers competing in as many as six events demonstrated resilience and focus throughout the long session, producing numerous personal bests and season-best performances.
The team achieved eight new CIS team records, including:
- Alexia V. 15-16yrs 50m freestyle (28.04), 100m butterfly (1:07.91) and 50m butterfly (30.10)
- Leia V. 15-16yrs 200m butterfly (2:55.50)
- Lokgi W. 13-14yrs 200m breaststroke (3:17.85)
- Kieran T. 15-16yrs 400m freestyle (4:20.87) and 200 backstroke (2:26.25)
- Shreyash K. 17 & Over 200m backstroke (2:24.15)
In addition to our record-breakers, several swimmers contributed crucial points to the overall team standings:
- Haoyang B. (4th 200m breaststroke)
- Tianyou S. (9th 200m butterfly),
- Harrison L. (12th 50m freestyle) and
- Qianrui C. (12th 200m butterfly)
Beyond the results, the Huskies represented CIS with exceptional sportsmanship and maturity. They encouraged teammates between races, stayed engaged throughout long sessions, and maintained a clean and organised team area, leaving the space better than they found it. Congratulations to every athlete who raced over the two days. The CIS Huskies demonstrated not only their competitive ability but also the values that define our program: resilience, effort, teamwork, and respect.
