Open Minds Programme: Opening our minds to bugs, birds and botany

Tanjong Katong (TK) hosted Biologist in Residence, Kenny Peavy in September 2018. Kenny and TK students spent a week exploring biodiversity of the gardens on campus. They talked, watched, smelled and felt anything interesting that they found. By the end of the week, each student had created a fact page, about a chosen plant or animal of their choice that they saw on campus, for the upcoming TK field guide. Older students, who learned how to do a simple field survey to collect data (about different plant species) using a quadrat sampling technique, included graphs and charts in their fact pages.
