For the past 4 months, grade 12 DP theatre students have been preparing their solo theatre pieces, learning how to write, direct, design and perform their own 8-minute solo performance. Students selected a theatre practitioner to guide their solo piece. They explored lighting design through the eyes of Robert Wilson, they looked at ways to alienate the audience as per the methods of Bertolt Brecht, and created verbatim theatre through the lens of Anna Deavere Smith. Through their performances, students tackled a range of topics and themes from identity to relationships and political issues.
