Swim team goes from strength to strength
The secret to success for the CIS Husky swim team is a combination of dedicated coaches, inspired and resilient students, and very supportive parents. Parent, Melessa Tan recently shared with us her thoughts about how swimming at CIS balances the importance of self-development and drive with teamwork and perseverance.
We have a successful and vibrant swim team which has culminated in many of our senior swimmers reaching the finals at the recent Singapore National Age Group (SNAG) competition, as well as many successes at HSACSIS and MSACSIS (High School and Middle School inter-international school athletic competitions). A 2023 highlight included our medley relay team winning gold against all the other international schools.
Coach Helen and her team are always there to support all our children, and they have worked hard to foster a kind, supportive and inspiring swim community within the school. From the excellence of our top swimmers to encouraging and promoting commitment and perseverance in our junior and younger ECA swimmers.
Our CIS swim team is particularly unique amongst the international schools in Singapore in the depth and age range of our swimmers, and the stability of our coaches.
Along with the strong showing by both junior and senior swimmers at recent events, we are looking forward to having a lot of fun and achieving strong results at the BISP meet in Phuket, Thailand in May. We will be travelling with a team of 50 swimmers to Phuket, and are confident that the CIS Huskies will do our school proud whilst having fun and enjoying this overseas experience.
Seeing magical swims and astounding personal best performances in relays against the backdrop of their cheering friends reminds me that it’s important to encourage our kids to broaden their horizons, do their best and most of all persevere when things seem most difficult.
The strong swim community at CIS is a boon for our school!
