Gymnasts do CIS proud in Moose Games
Over the Spring break (31 March to 1 April 2018), five CIS gymnasts travelled to Bangkok to compete in the annual Moose Games, hosted by Thai Canadian Community Sports.
CIS students Cecilia Sei-Won Oh, Julia D’Avola and Minseo Kang competed in level 2 while Zayna Alam and Ruby Hall competed in level 3.
This was a huge international competition with over 900 participants, and our gymnasts’ first 2018 competition. It was an exciting competition for all our gymnasts - especially for Cecilia and Minseo who were competing for the first time.
All our gymnasts did extremely well, earning gold medals at every event they participated in (gold medals are awarded for scores higher than a 8.500 out of 10). The gymnasts were extremely thrilled with their successes, and have said this positive experience will spur them on at their next competitive event.
Notable individual achievements:
Level 2 (226 Competitors):
Julia D’Avola: 3rd place on vault
Level 3 (187 Competitors):
Zayna Alam: 6th place on uneven bars
Ruby Hall:
15th place on floor exercise
14th place on balance beam
11th place on vault
Way to go, Huskies!
