It has been a year of achievement and milestones for our grade 12 cohort. The final year of the DP is always an intense one and everyone has worked incredibly hard. Congratulations to all students who received an award or made this year's honours roll.

Secondary principal, Jeff Smith says, "The academic award assemblies are some of my favorite times of the year. The grade 12 ceremony is planned and run by students for students and it gives them an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the success that their peers have achieved."

Saqib A, a grade 12 student who took the lead in planning this event, spoke with Mosaic. “It was truly an honour to spearhead this event,” he says. “This is my first time being the leader of a project after gaining experience for many years as a student council committee member. It involved a lot of coordination with senior figures in the school like Mr Smith and consistent communication between the committee and myself, so we could realise the vision of bringing the Class of 2021 the most entertaining Academic Awards ceremony possible.”

A special shout out also goes out to the student hosts (Tom A, Spencer S and Kieran L), student speaker (Pari B) and faculty speaker (grade 12 lead teacher, Ms Ashley K) who impressed the audience with their professionalism and eloquence.

Saqib says, “these speakers were chosen by students who wanted to see them speak at a prestigious event like the awards ceremony and it was heartwarming to see them own the stage and putting their fantastic oral skills to good effect. We also tried to make the ceremony more light-hearted by incorporating music and disco lights as well as relatable humour in the script.”
